about me

My whole name is Jonathan David Hanh Vu Hill and I graduated as valedictorian of the Savannah College of Art & Design in 2003 with a degree in Sequential Art. Since then I've freelanced as an illustrator and cartoonist. Some of my clients include the Asian Reporter, Hollywood Entertainment, Hyphen Magazine, Fantagraphics Books, the Willamette Week, the Portland Mercury, the Spokane Inlander, the Viet Nam Literature Project, the Seattle Metropolitan, mun2 [a subsidiary of NBC Universal], Tugboat Press, and Psilo Design.

My work has been published in the second volume of the acclaimed BEASTS! book published by Fantagraphics Books, the comics anthology Popgun 2, published by Image Comics, the I Saw You... anthology, published by Three Rivers Press [an imprint of Random House], as well as numerous other small press collections.

I'm currently wrapping up a graphic novel with MK Reed. We were nominated for an Ignatz Award for best story for our work on 'Americus', published in the anthology, Papercutter. It is scheduled to be published by First Second Books in 2012.

There is a handy wiki entry on me at the Wikivietlit that includes a pretty complete list of published works and some write-ups and mentions online. Check it out here.

Oh, and one other interesting fact:

I also help make a line of women's panties with my best buddy, Amber Rowland. We've been featured in Portland's Willamette Week Best of Portland issue of 2007, and will be featured in an upcoming [god knows when] issue of BUST magazine. They can be purchased at uterusundies.com.
