I have been the staff illustrator for The Asian Reporter, a small local newspaper in Portland, OR that focuses on Northwest and world news with an Asian focus, since 2007. This work has mainly consisted of doing a political cartoon for each issue, but also includes doing an illustration for their annual Asian Heritage Month section, and the zodiac illustrations for their annual Lunar New Year section.

The best thing about doing something that so regularly was being able to tangibly see myself grow over over more than a decade years. It’s also been great to have a small gig with low pressure and a relative amount of freedom. I’ve used this to experiment with different techniques and styles, particularly cutting my digital teeth on these cartoons when I was making the transition of my process from analog to digital.

Below are a selection of cartoons from various years in reverse chronological order. I’ve included some of the older years to compare with the newer work.
